Summary | 0008390: Will-o-wisps are too strong
Description | These monsters are so very deadly, and are stronger than most "The Deep" monsters (the exception being Tentacle projectiles, but only by about 5 or so damage). they do Among the highest touch damage in the game (which is understandable since they drag you into them) but their ranged attack is also one of the most powerful in the game too, stronger than most lieutenants. This one monsters makes the swamps far more dangerous than The deep. I don't think they should have a ranged attack at all. On Hero they do about 50 ish damage with projectiles, and 60 touch damage with no protection at all. This is Tier 1.

Thanks! * The mechanics of Will O The Wisps have been changed around fairly substantially. ** They no longer have a ranged attack -- that was really pushing things in terms of their difficulty. ** They now lift you up into the air and prevent you from jumpin or falling as you move toward them. ** They now pull you toward themselves slower on the X axis, but you also can't resist their pull by pushing away from them. *** This prevents issues with your screen automatically looking the wrong way, or being unable to attack them with movement-directed aiming because of having to resist them, etc. |
|
Small question, how would this new Wisp behave in buildings? In some buildings (more thinking of lieutenant swamp towers or very high chasm ones) how will the "not being able to jump" part be handled there? Would they pull you upwards or so? I could see a range of problems sprouting up from that. |
|
Good point. * Will O The Wisps now require line of sight to you in order to use their gravity effect on you. This is not true of spells, however, which are still affected through walls. ** Note that destructible objects like crates won't help in terms of preventing line of sight. |
