Summary | 0030028: Add an early-game anti-mech solution so the player has some counter-play options when high-level mechs are alerted
Description | Currently it's difficult to deal with high-end mk2 mechs like Diplomats and Convicters due to their combination of high armour and high hacking resistance - the latter of which makes handling them the intended way via hacking a matter of player skill at the minigame. Large Bore AP shells only partially alleviate this, as most player vehicles/mechs have no baseline AP and the +240 AP is insufficient to pierce the armour of most Mk2 mechs As a result, when they become alerted (such as due to an event drawing them into a fight) the player has few options to respond besides letting them rampage until the alert ends It would be good to have some options unlocked early to help a player deal with these higher end mechs so that setting up close to a high-security POI has some counter-play, even if they don't fully counter them For example, some options might be: - A specialist unit (say, a player mech/vehicle or capturable mech) with disproportionately high armour piercing but mediocre stats elsewhere - A (heavy? vehicle?) weapon that inflicts an armour shredding effect to eventually reduce armour to beatable levels - A weapon that inflicts a hack-resistance shredding effect to similarly make hacking the mech easier - Adding a baseline of armour piercing to player-built mechs so they can potentially boost their armour piercing rating to fight other mechs
