Summary | 0026045: Fleets vanish, then when you save/reload they're completely gone from the save | ||||
Description | In this save, I lost everything bound to my 1 hotkey. Attached are two saves - "Test" was a save I made after the fleet disappeared. Then I also included the autosave from before the event. One thing I notice leading up to the crash is that the last couple worlds I attacked before the crash, I noticed my engineer repair beams were displaying as targeting dead center of the gravity well, rather than any unit, no matter where on the map the engineers were. This weird engineer visual has preceded this same bug in other instances as well. | ||||

Adding a note - the engineering visual bug happens more often than I realized - it doesn't always come before this crash. Sorry! |

Thank you! I _think_ that this is the only issue going on with this save, but I would not swear to it. There are also duplicate ships in the save, making it twice as large as usual, so I'm going to have the game self-repair that as well. * Fixed an issue with saves from version 3.778 where unfortunately it was corrupting savegames that it was loading. ** If you loaded a savegame in that version of the game and then saved it, it's possible that the second version is irreparably broken (or might not be). However, the original version from 3.777 or prior, or a new save that was started in 3.778 but never loaded-and-then-saved-again, would be fine. ** Put another way, the load process was what did the corrupting, not the save process. ** This had all sorts of strange effects, like fleets disappearing, units disappearing, and so on. |

For the autosave one: * The game is now far better at fixing things when it winds up with duplicate copies of entities for whatever reason. This should stop the repeated warnings about this issue when it arrives. Thanks! |
