If it turns out that there's nothing wrong with the new ThrowayLists then the algorithm might need to just be adjusted to be more memory efficient? |

Okay, so I've got the map generation set up so that it shows us what is happening in realtime on slow maps, and generates them on a background thread in general. Somehow this swirl map type still manages to lock up the entire game despite being on a BG thread. What's most interesting is that within about 30 second it's using 16GB of ram for me and climbing. I don't care to let it crash with an out of memory exception, since there are already stack traces from that, so I just killed it. I figured the new map stuff would help debug this one, but nope! Well, let's dig in and see what we have. |

Thanks! * Fixed a one-line typo in ToThrowawayListCanMemLeak_HugeWasteAndExpensive_AvoidIfAtAllPossible() where it was creating a throwaway list from a regular managed list, but then filling the contents of the managed list with the contents of the managed list rather than filling the throwaway list with the contents of the managed list. ** This led to a pretty incredible infinite memory leak and crash to desktop in the rare cases where this is actually used, most notably in some of the map types. Swirl and linked rings were the main ones. |
