Summary0025144: Cruiser Facility Balance -- No redundant weapon techs
DescriptionCurrently, it is possible to get duplicate cruisers if RNG lines up correctly. This is undesirable for a couple of reasons, but mainly due to how much this improves the returns of a weapon tech investment

CRC added a couple of cruisers that also overlap potentially with my cruisers, so there's another way that this can occur.

Proposal -- Each Cruiser option must be a different tech. This will greatly improve the likelihood of at least one cruiser lining up nicely with the player's investment

Secondary Proposal -- Increase the Cruiser facilities spawned to 3. Merekek among others have pointed out that Cruiser facilities don't reliably become relevant in games. Moreover, this greatly limits the exposure to the 15 potential Cruisers available.

I agree, cruisers have low impact due to how rare they are. A notable exception is the dark zenith and ZA cruisers which all use alien tech, along with the other ships these give, creating an extremely strong overlap of ship lines that use alien tech in games with those enabled.

Seems to work!


* Added a new grants_stuff_to_be_added_to_player_fleets_remove_overlapping_techs="true" tag, which can be used for things like the Cruiser Construction Facility.
** It is important to understand that while this will work any ARS-style hacking granter, it will not do a good job if you don't apply this only to units that can only be hacked once.
** In other words, if you use this on an ARS, which can be hacked 3 times, it would not work for any hacks beyond the first.
** This is now applied to the Cruiser Construction facilities, and seems to work well. Essentially it means that no two cruisers in the galaxy should share the same tech. This has very narrow applications as an xml attribute, but for both cruisers and destroyers if they all follow that single-tech path, that will handle it.

Nice! I plan do the same sort of thing with the Destroyers (one per weapon tech) so this sets it up nicely =)
