Summary | 0024881: ships constantly peel off and ignore move commands | ||||
Description | this is a save of this issue that i believe is similar to my engineer one. several ships just keep peeling off to attack far off targets despite me spamming them to move back to the main group. they just seesaw between the two ideas. i have videos that show the problem as well but it wont let me upload them. movements are a little different every time i load it and i cant get a save that already has everything in motion properly but the save consistently has this result when you try to move them back to the corner. | ||||

you can see them going back and forth and i have to just click over and over to finally get them to listen, sometimes they break out of it sooner than other times and sometimes even clicking constantly does not get them where i want them before they just die. |

If you want to micro like this then you probably want Stop To Shoot mode on, or just turn pursuit off. |

It's 100% a bug with attack move. I wasn't using it earlier because attack move is functioning the same as pursuit mode right now for some reason. They stop doing it if you turn off attack move. They aren't supposed to pursue targets outside their range so something happened that broke that condition. |

badger im not on pursuit . exlium has got it, it seems to be working kind of like pursuit now, or at least a chunk of the fleet operates that way. |

Attack move is not broken for all units, just some. I did some testing and I observed the following behaviour: Most ships, normal attack move behaviour Carrier Frigates, attack move functions the same as pursuit mode This is probably due to the Drones having technically an infinite range of production. |

I _think_ this is fixed in 3.010, but engineer logic is definitely not perfect yet. Feedback will be welcome. I experimented with the save and they seemed to obey me about as much as I expected (aka until they finished the specific thing I told them). If this is an attack move thing that I'm missing, I need to look closer at it, but I made several changes which would likely fix that. Thanks! |
