It is shown on the tooltip. It's the first item, directly below the name of the unit and mark. |

That isn't shown when you look at a unity on the field of battle which for me is 99% of the time i look at their stats. |

I just check because I was sure that what Strategic Sage wrote is correct. What I found was that even with extended tooltips the metal cost is no longer shown. Did it get removed by accident? |

Ahh, that does explain the difference. It does show when looking at the Fleet/Build panels, which is the only place I would personally look for it anyway. When it's a unit in combat, I personally don't care what the metal is if I'm looking there, I make those decisions outside of combat.
I think this is done to cut down on the amount of information on the tooltips and try to present only the most relevant info, since there has been a lot of back and forth over time with people alternately saying there is too much or not enough info in various views.
I don't have a strong opinion on whether it should be in the 'battle' or whatever tooltips or not. I didn't even know before that they were different. |

Yeah its subjective. For me I look at a battle field and try to assess the "value" of things im going to be loosing. For example turrets vs ships. I could go into the other menus to find this but for me it happens as spur of the moment thing not a pre-planned thing. |
