Do you have a save from shortly before these ships appeared? Once they've appeared figuring out why is hard |

My experience has been similar to Ithuriel's in that the hunter fleet has always managed to suppress minor factions of equal difficulty (macrophage, nanocaust, marauders, dyson sphere, though not the dark spire), mustering forces of such strength that it seemed to be conjuring them out of thin air. In one case it built up to 2.2K fleet strength while camping the Dyson Sphere, probably b/c the dyson sphere kept trickling out foes so that particular "NOT AFTER YOU" subfleet never thought its job was done and kept receiving reinforcements. Though I haven't experienced hunter fleet ships spawning on my world, but they've surely torn thru them a number of times on their way to minor faction targets. IMO such fleets shouldn't be allowed to path thru your worlds if they draw on a free or deeply discounted budget, b/c it heavily disincentivizes allowing any minor factions to take worlds between you and the AI--they're simply too great of a liability. |

If they can't path through your worlds then they'll wind up just sitting around so you have to attack them frontally. I had a ton of bug reports about "Giant hunter fleets on homeworld that are against minor factions". |

Can confirm, 400 strength hunter fleets on the AI homeworld since there were a few marauder worlds behind my borders on Diff 7 at 120 AIP. Although I think the bug reported by Ithu was about random hunter fleets suddenly warping in out of thin air without warning to attack minor factions? |

Honestly, I'm not certain if there were ships warping out of thin air or not; I was guessing it might be the case, but I only ever saw the after-the-fact. I do know for sure that by now, anti-Marauder Hunters are the only real threat to me in my Diff8 Royal AI game 6 hours in- more than 80% of the forces that I'm fighting consist of them. (Waves are also pretty scary- I'm just talking about already-existing forces). |
