Summary | 0024554: Capturables, AI fleet strength estimate, AI Orbital defences not showing up in normal view.
Description | Currently, after a bit into the start of the game, much of the map becomes harder to see as scouted planets no longer display what capturables or orbital defences are on planet, and the AI fleet strength estimate also disappears forcing user to flip through each filter for info that used to be easily viewable at a glance on normal mode. On another note, the AI defence filter on the map also sees through the fog of war, allowing the player to quickly estimate where the AI HW is through the fog of war.

even more: in normal mode you see explicitly where homeworld is, even if planet is still unexplored |
it seems that capturables and enemy strength estimations are now only visible in "normal" mode if you are watching (recon or spy) the planet. Is it intended? It seems nice to force you to explore more (and force you to use spies) but in that case data should be hidden from other modes, too, otherwise it only force you to loop thorough different modes. |
My guess would be no since this is pretty frustrating due to how scouting works. If a planet is scouted and things can be seen, why remove them? It was also tedious to scout planets the old fashioned way with scouts if the capturable are not viewable unless you are directly spying on them. |
in 0024561 there's another detail: it seems to happen on save/reload |

Thanks! * Fixed an issue with the new planet sidebar where it was not properly caring about the amount of time units had been on a planet when deciding what of them to show in the new by faction and by faction and mobility views. ** We haven't been able to replicate the issue, but we've seen the screenshots and also we saw the wrong code. So hopefully fixing the wrong code will fix the issue that others were seeing. * Fixed a bug where, since just after the new states of matter were added, we've had an issue with scouting intel being wiped out on old planets any time a save was loaded (basically every ship was being told it had just arrived on the planet), AND entirely wiped out for multiplayer clients in general. * Fixed a bug where the tooltips would show you the AI homeworld without you having ever scouted there. This was new sometime recently in the beta. |
