Summary | 0024382: Cannot unpause unit
Description | Bought a bunch of units from the zenith trader and paused them so I can control the build order. Now I can't unpause them. Tried save/restore and quit/restore. Check Hirschberg in the attached save. Thanks much!

Default unanything command is CTRL + <original key> so if you used "N" to pause construction, use CTRL + N to unpause. |

Yep, the keybinds changed from being toggles because with ships constantly being created and destroyed, this was hugely often leading to non-responsiveness. Being able to definitely say "I mean ON" or "OFF" rather than "opposite of whatever the majority is right now" became really important. The tooltips on the buttons at the bottom right when you have selected ships mention this, but it's easy to miss if you were expecting the old control scheme. Sorry for the confusion! |

lol. Ok, got it. Feedback - if I can select a single unit and toggle it off with the UI, I should be able to select a single unit and use the UI to toggle it back on. Having one-way UI is definitely confusing. |
|
Contextual UI is also confusing, which is one of those things that was challenging for me personally when looking at all this. I agree with you, selecting just one ship and doing the toggle is something that seems like it should be an obvious reason to work the old way. But that's only going to make it all the more confusing when someone selects two ships. Why would it be different with just two? Etc. The problem we faced was that the interface was extremely unresponsive, often with it requiring three or four clicks to make all the ships do what they were supposed to, because of timing issues. We tried to fix that off and on for years, failed to do so, so took out the nuclear option. That's where we are now, and it reacts when you click a single time, no matter what. Personally I would have preferred to get the toggle working, but I spent hours and hours on that and never could get it to work reliably, so here we are. |
|
Thanks for the explanation - agree it's more complex than it looks on the surface, especially if timing is involved. I learned something - cool. Thanks! |

My pleasure! Sorry I didn't have a better answer on it. |
