Summary	0024343: During press period: ship encyclopedia
Description	The idea is that on the main menu you can click to see this, and probably at the top of the techs sidebar I will also add a button for this. * This will largely look like the Tips window. * The left-hand categories will be by things like Frigate, Strikecraft, etc, but also by the DLC or Mod that they are from. * I will also include a spoiler option that will redact certain units unless you choose to click past the spoiler warning or disable spoiler warnings. This is useful for * Exo War units, Imperial Spire, and I’m sure some mod stuff. * Low concern, but the encyclopedia can also be used as a lore dump for players to learn more of the AI war verse. ** There may or may not be actual lore available for ships at any given point, but I can add in lore fields on ships, and make it so that people can fill that in for their own mods in particular. That way there’s a mechanism, and perhaps there’s a filter for “units with lore on them.” Filters: * I will also include a filter that limits it to only things that benefit from certain techs. * I will also include another filter that limits it to only things that another given ship type gets a bonus against. * I will also include ANOTHER filter that limits it to only things that gets bonuses against another given ship type. * I guess also a filter for ships you have, one for ships you have OR can capture, one for ships you can capture, one for known ships the enemy has, etc. * A more fluff-style item will be for any units with lore attached to them. That way people can find the lore entries that they can only find in this fashion. * Anything else we need here? * Extreme fluff, but perhaps by race/faction as well. Things like "nanocaust exclusive" or "scourge exclusive". Dark zenith would be a major stick point for me personally. Content: * There are a LOT of ship types. So for the sake of clarity, normally I will show a single thin line with the name of the ship type. Later it can become more involved if need be. * Clicking the line (same as you would a tip) will then open a popup that shows all its details, including its details at every mark level that it can be (some ships don’t have mark levels, or only have 4 instead of 7, etc). My editorial: The general idea is for people to be able to figure out what sort of techs they want to unlock, if they feel uncertain about that. But also, if they are seeing a big scary ship and wondering what to use against it, then this would be a way to find out (via the filters). On the main wiki, we can also point to the fact that this data is frequently changing and that mods are a big thing, and so to please see this part of the game versus trying to import this to our actual core wiki constantly like we did for AIWC. Sometimes people feel uninformed, and hopefully this puts that to bed for good. Part of me doesn’t feel like this doesn’t need to be pre-DLC2, but then again we do get dinged for it in user reviews more than I’d like, so… yeah. With a big press push happening around DLC2, I guess this makes sense.
