|Summary||0024340: 4 Spire Frigates vs. 1 Spire Destroyer choice heavily favours Frigates.|
|Description||With regard to Fallen Spire Campaigns and what one should spend the sockets on their cities on, i find it very difficult to make an argument that its worth spending 2 sockets on 1 destroyer vs. 4 frigates.|
In my eyes the benefits between the two options are as follows:
2 x the total HP of 1 destroyer, spread over 4 hulls.
2 x the firepower vs. everything but really Big Boys.
2 x Neural Nets compared to Dessies' 1, with the defensive benefits that implies.
Lower mass, if theres anything that doesn't have a bonus vs. 6 but does against 8 mTx.
Has the HP of two frigates, reducing the chance of getting alpha'd off the field.
Has the firepower of 6 frigates when it comes to Big Boy Targets
I feel like the only situation in which the Destroyer might be superior to 4 Frigates is for defending against Exo strikes that aren't going to be coming through the home system of the Destroyer. I'm not sure what could be done to help it, maybe some durability buffs?

Hmm, I do wonder about the socket cost being 2, as one thing.
For another, though, I am going to increase the armaments of the destroyers in particular as I get into the loadouts implementation in the next few weeks. I think that will give some compelling reasons to start choosing destroyers, but I will look forward to your feedback as we get into that.
||The only thing I really think Destroyers really need is greater range to go with their damage bonus. If they had a 25%-40% greater range than what they have they would truly hold the destroyer roll. This way they could fire at range while other ships take the brunt of the attack, which is the roll of destroyers in actual fleet combat.|
