Summary | 0023924: Add map visualization of deepstrike danger
Description | Deepstriking beyond a certain range is very dangerous, but the game does not communicate well that this mechanic exists, and what the actual safe deepstriking range is. Besides, the game already has many popups, and in the heat of the action (especially in multiplayer where pausing is problematic) the player might not notice the one announcing inbound AI reinforcements in time, or associate it properly with having gone one system too far. Therefore I propose: - Drawing the sections of the path that lead you into dangerous territory differently when you try to path to a system beyond the safe range on the galactic map. - Mentioning the danger in the tooltip of the planet outside range you're hovering over. - Obscuring slightly all planets outside your safe deepstriking range, so it's clear they are "explored but not safe to get to"

If you hover over a planet and put the tooltip into verbose mode it will tell you whether it's deepstriking. |

Thanks, that's already something, but it doesn't do much for people discovering the game, or to have a view at-a-glance of every world that you can deepstrike "safely". (Personally at the moment, I just count whether I'm 4 worlds away. I barely ever use verbose tooltips since I find they take too long to parse to find relevant info.) |

Thanks! * There is a new Galaxy Map filter option: Deepstrike Danger ** Shows which planets will trigger a deepstrike if you bring your own ships to them and unload them. Shows the same icons as the Normal view. ** This is a great idea, since it has never been perfectly clear which planets will and will not show this. |
