Summary0023910: Scourge don't upgrade to higher level Spawners and Armouries
DescriptionIn this save file where I, the Nanocaust, and the Scourge control about 95 out of 100 planets the Scourge have not upgraded a single one of their Spawners or Armouries beyond Mark 4, and most of them are still Mark 3. They also have a whopping 3 builders across the entire galaxy. I did notice a couple of Mark 5 and higher Scourge Fortresses, but I'd rather they actually upgrade, for example, the Spawner or Armoury at my Homeworld that have been at the same level for probably 2 hours now.

The Scourge is at difficulty 5 and was obtained from their beacon about 3 hours before this save. They are still providing a good amount of support with their Warriors, but there are no hybrids or better. Could it made so that they try to upgrade at least one Spawner and Armoury to the highest possible level?

I attached an additional save, which is about 3.5 hours later. The amount of planets available to the Scourge is identical bar one.
There are now two Spawners that are Mark 5, nothing higher, and no Armouries above Mark 4. Again, there were only three Builders in the entire galaxy.

About 1.5 hours later I achieved victory by bringing in the Imperial Spire, and I believe there was one additional Mark 5 Spawner at that time.
The Scourge is definitely not levelling up their Spawners and Armouries properly.

Well, the number of builders is correct; they are hard-capped to a relatively small number at intensity 5.

I didn't know about that cap, but it does make sense.
The last time I played with the Scourge as an ally (also intensity 5) was several months ago and I definitely saw more than 5 Builders at the same time back then, so that's why I was confused by their low number.

Since you only wanted the scourge on 5, well, there's a limit to how much they can build and how quickly. If you want the scourge to get better stuff, use a higher intensity.

That's totally acceptable, but I did see them go up to Mark 7 on intensity 5 before.
I suppose they just have too many places to build and upgrade things in this campaign to get around to upgrading any of their bases to the highest levels.
It's strange to me that they don't try to get at least one base to a higher Mark, but it does nicely diversify different intensity levels and I do like that.
Did I just get lucky their initial growth was slow enough in those earlier campaigns that they were able to reach Mark 7 on several bases?

If the scourge can expand freely then they'll have trouble getting structures up to really high marks, since there are just so many structures to be upgraded.

So in general, the scourge prefer to upgrade their structures evenly, rather than pushing one structure up to the max level. So if you own the entire galaxy, expect the upgrades to be slow.

I have given the scourge one additional builder though.
