Summary0023720: Several choices for tech vault hack
DescriptionSo. I've been playing the game, got some victories under my belt already. As I've been doing so, I've noticed... well, the technology vaults almost exclusively go ignored by me. In almost all cases, they will have a technology that I am simply not speccing my fleets into (as I have a tendency to hyperspecialize in tech), and in those cases it's far cheaper to unlock the associated technology with science. Tech vaults are all well and good, but if it provided you with two (or more) choices to pick from (similar to the advanced research station's multi-choice functionality) you'd actually get to see it used in an interesting way instead of just being a miniature spire archive.

To put it succinctly, the odds of getting a technology in a technology vault that you actually want are low enough that their tech-granting functionality in my experience very seldom sees use. Making tech vaults offer two choices would reduce this issue, making them feel less redundant without overly increasing the risk of them fitting your purposes too often.

I pretty much always hack all the tech vaults in my games, and they usually are varied enough that multiple of them fit categories I really want. That's more a variant experience issue, but I think the game needs to resist further moves in this direction. I think we've already gone more than far enough in the 'turn the galaxy into what you want' direction as opposed to the 'do the best you can with what's there' core design.
