Summary | 0023190: Fleets or ships deselecting again after going through wormholes based on some circumstances.
Description | Still hearing back about why. Apparently mainly when people have selected them in planetary view, not galaxy view. https://steamcommunity.com/app/573410/discussions/0/2246677986024011367/ I'm awaiting hearing more about it, as that is definitely super annoying.

FDru said: I tried a few things, single clicking on the fleet transport, drag selecting multiple ships/transports, and clicking on the ships/transports from the panel on the left (the ship summary thing). The only thing that did NOT result in ships being unselected was selecting the fleet in the main galaxy view (the transport icon under the planet). |

Okay, from what I can tell, if you use the numerals to select the actual fleet itself, the fleet never deselects. I can send fleets back and forth through planets while never leaving the galaxy map, and it's no problem. If I double-click a fleet to select it, then the same behavior works for me, in the main and other views. If I drag-select or otherwise select SHIPS, aka not the fleet itself as a unit, then regardless of what view I am in, or which view I give them orders from, it deselects them when they change planets. So it looks like this is for when ships are selected instead of "the fleet as an entity," and that's definitely something I can fix. |

Thanks! * Fixed a very annoying issue where if you had ships selected directly (as in not by fleet), then when they went through a wormhole they would become unselected. This was basically working as-coded, but why we had it that way is a big question mark. When we reworked the selection code, we had thought we'd removed all things of that sort. And with the ability to give cross-planet commands (move to a point on a planet you are not on, or attack a unit on a planet you are not on), the desire to keep selections consistent regardless of where you go is definitely longstanding. |
