Additionally, maybe because of this bug, it also does not give me the option to double the ship cap of the TWO other fleet components in that fleet: MUGGER and SIEGE FRIGATE. You can see this in the save if you attempt to do the hack at SIVA with STRIKE SODIUM fleet. On the other hand, the ot her fleet (STRIKE YTTERBIUM) also cannot double its SIEGE FRIGATE fleet size. Maybe the frigates are no longer doubleable? If so, that's a crying shame, that was what I always doubled. The tooltip does say "...doubles the ship cap for one of the strikecraft types..." If that is now the case, maybe some Cap Doublers can be made to apply to frigates... |

It was decided to remove it from Frigates due to how they scale in cap now. Before it worked like this. Start with 2 Frigates, get MK2, which is 1.25x cap. You can't have 25% of a Frigate, so it gave you a full third right there. Upgrade to MK3, 1.5x cap, still 3 Frigates, MK4, 2x cap, now up to 4. Mk5, 2.5x cap, now 5 Frigates, MK6, 3x cap, now 6. To avoid that weird confusing scaling, you now get a Frigate at each Mark, no matter what. So you'd start at 2, MK2 now have 3, MK3 now have 4, MK4 now have 5, etc. You'd end up with 8 in the end, so without doubling it's a net boost (they scale better than strikecraft now). It was decided that it might make them a bit too strong if they could be doubled, so it was removed. |

Thanks for the explanation @RocketAssistedPuffin. I wonder if I can win, now, however. I almost lost on a difficulty level 4 game, in which I had doubled almost every one of my Siege Frigate fleets, which was the great majority of my attack value (got them to Mark VII). Not on the first part, but on "Phase II" (or whatever it is) when the enemy command post starts rampaging around the galaxy. (That was 1.024.) I'm playing a Difficulty 5 game now, we'll see... |
