Summary0022354: Melee units unable to hit fleeing units
DescriptionWhen a pack of melee units is pursuing fleeing AI units (e.g. because your local strength is too high) they close in, slow down to match the target's speed and just quietly follow along, apparently not landing any attacks.

In the attached save my gangsaws and absorbers are chasing sentinel gunboats but don't seem to attack them at all.

To me as a layman it looks like the melee units are slowing down in order to park next to their target but that slow down happens before they're in range and they don't lead their target either so as they slow down the spot they want to park in moves and they accelerate a bit again, evidently not enough to close the distance though, keeping them permanently just out of range. IMO they should just be set to slow down to 0 instantly so they don't have to slow down before getting in range and it looks more like they're slamming into the target which would fit most of the melee types anyway.

Several melee changes were made from 2.509 to 2.512, and possibly other changes in the meantime have also impacted this, but either way I just retested this with some gangsaws chasing a fleeing sentinel gunboat, and they brought it down.
