Summary0021096: Sentinels and Snipers are too cheap for the AI to purchase
DescriptionI kept getting spanked by the level 7 AI once I reached 50 AIP, so I decided to drop down to level 6.

30 AIP, 40 minutes in: A wave with 193 Sentinels and 172 Snipers spawn.

After 5 seconds of the wave hitting, I'm already losing Cryogenic Pods and Human Settlements. There's nothing I can do to stop this. If I go back one more auto save I can probably have my starter fleet be at the homeworld to defend, but I would still end up losing pods I believe.

Sentinel Gunboats are already made to be more expensive - Snipers I'm unsure on because they're flimsy and not that damaging without the bonus.

I'm leaning towards lowering AI income overall, since that seems to be a consistent problem.

Puffin, please don't forget that the strength values no longer affect that. It's now cost_for_ai_to_purchase="200" or whatever the value is. Much more direct.

Strength just states how scary the humans and AI think the thing is. :)

Oh I know! I've already tuned some Strength values back to more suitable numbers now that it's not the cost.

I think the "cost_for_ai_to_purchase" is just across the board, significantly lower than what the Strength values were, so it has so much more stuff. Changing their income is perhaps the quickest way to do a big shift.

Got it, thanks! Sorry about that, I had tried to make it equivalent but I guess messed up that data transfer. And/or it's because the cost doesn't go up by mark level now.

Done with this:

* Most units for the AI now cost twice as much for it to purchase.
** Guardians and Turrets cost 50% more, Frigates cost 33% more.
** At the same time, the starting AI defenses are increased to make them roughly the same, as that seemed mostly okay, it was mainly the sheer wave sizes people were getting.
