Description | I'm torn on whether to include this as a report but I've been given the go-ahead by Badger on the Discord. In my AAR save (AI 9/9/9, Dark Spire 10, Turtle Type, 200 planets, otherwise fairly normal settings) the game I've ended up with as a result seems borderline unwinnable. In the posted save I have only 135 AI Progress, but I just got a CPA that delivered about 350 strength. As the save continued through some experimentation, it took a very long time for those ships to actually do anything, but they still defended their own planets if I attempted to move - this led to a stalemate that lasts about a half hour from the save, and if I recall around 45 minutes from the attack itself. The Dark Spire has done basically nothing so far, so I cannot measure their impact. Still, this type of CPA is only going to get worse as I proceed and it takes so long for them to attack, and then to sloooooooowly whittle them down through enormous battles of attrition, that I feel confident saying that at some point this game will hit deadlock. It will become nothing but defending against CPAs until either the Dark Spire kills us both (unlikely - another player said they experimented and found the Dark Spire barely touched the AI with these settings), or until an instigator base too far for me to reach ticks up AI Progress and the CPA simply becomes too big. I honestly don't know if there's any way to win this save, or any save with these settings, short of attempting a blitzkrieg against the homeworld before more than one or two CPAs occur. I could be wrong, though, and I do intend to continue with this save for as long as I can manage. |
