Description | Basically what the title says. It's clear that red is an OWD AI type as it has a black hole machine on every planet, but it also has experimental ships. It's had them since game start, as revealed by early scouting. The attached autosave is the earliest save I have from the game. | ||||

Having played further into this game, the experimental ships are definitely being reinforced, as well, just like the normal ship types. Basically red is simultaneously a Experimentalist and a One Way Doormaster, the only saving grace is that orange seems to be something fairly vanilla. |

Added a later game save, just to show progression and potentially help diagnose what the issue is here. I'm not certain the orange AI is a "vanilla" type, but the red is showing every indiciation of simultaneously being an experimentalist and a one way door master. It's made for an... interesting game, all the moreso since the AI's got those damned spire tractor platforms... |

The likely cause is the Orange AI being a Support Corps. I was playing a game against... uh, I think it was a Tech Turtle, and the other AI was a Support Corps, and the Tech Turtle had giant piles of experimentals, along with insane numbers of MRS and Engineers all over the place. As I understand it, Support Corps basically grants the other AI access to various of the funky experimentals and support ships (decoy drones, speed boosters, MRS, translocators I think) without giving them the more combat oriented experimentals (I don't think they had microparasites, I definitely know they didn't have Anti-Starship Arachnids). |

The orange AI is not a support corps, it's a vanilla, the high score table confirms that. |

Okay, so several notes as I go through this one at long last: 1. The orange AI is definitely a support corps. Using cmd:enable cheats and then Better Than Trelawney, reveals that. The high scoreboard shows your best score from a given map seed, so perhaps you were playing against a vanilla on that same map in the past, with a higher score at the time. Or else that's a bug with the scoreboard, I suppose. 2. As per a related post, the MRS problem has been solved by brute force, simply by pulling those out in general. 3. Additionally, the following change should help with future spawns: * The Support Corps AI Type will no longer seed its ships in a guard capacity, and instead will have vastly more of them seeded with its ally's waves. The support corps AI type also no longer includes engineer drone IIs. That should do it, although you'll still see a lot of prior-accumulated junk in that save (not the MRSes, though, thankfully). |

Well that explains the MRS's and engineers, any idea what was going on with the experimental ships? |

Vinraith: Support Corps gives their ally access to experimental ships. It may not be explicitly stated, and may be a bug of some sort in the Support Corps code, but that's consistently been my experience. |

Note that the Support Corps provides: MunitionsBoosterII ShieldBearerII Decloaker SpeedBooster DecoyDrone (formerly) MRS If those were all the ones you were seeing, then that was stuff being added thanks to the Support Corps, although in some cases it may have been added for the other AI in the past (in the current version, those get added for the other AI in offensive waves only, not in defense, or that should be the case). |

Interesting. All the ships in question were red, nor orange, so anything it was adding it was definitely adding for the AI. I didn't see munition boosters nor shield bearers from either AI, but the other listed ships were all present. |
