Summary | 0020563: Voice responses to issued commands may be severely delayed
Description | After several hours of play, noticed an issue where at times, voices (both in response to directly issued commands, and in regards to events like completing a science data hack) may be delayed for as much as several minutes. I noticed the lack of expected "hack complete" voice prompt first (was watching the time count down), and then it came, minutes later while I was focused on combat in a different system. I don't believe this is somehow related to system overload, as the game overall plays smoothly, and neither the visuals nor audio stutter at any time. (Love the game music, BTW.)

Can you recall if you had paused the game at any point during the overall game play? It's possible it could be related to an audio bug related to pause, but it also could be a totally different bug. |
I am almost certain that I had paused/unpaused several points by that point in the game. I was sort of "binge" playing it right after the release, and was several hours into the game. I tend to pause semi-frequently to do stuff like grab a drink, hit the bathroom, etc. |
When I'm in combat in planet view I hear a lot of "bloop bloop bloop" from move orders I gave who knows how long ago. I think it just happens after the game has been open for so long, not sure how to repro it. Also noises from what I assume are AI waves, intergalatic wormholes etc. will just happen randomly when nothings going on and it basically renders audio cues useless. |
@nathanael - Okay. I will have the developer add this info to the other audio bug when he is working on it. @Exlium -- That's good information. Do you have a saved game that shows any of this. It would help trace the issue. |
when I load the save it's fine, it happens in any game after you play long enough. I just opened my save and it's not doing anything weird. After about 2 hours or so, sometimes it starts acting up. You have to close the game entirely though. Just backing out to the menu isn't enough. |
Is this still someone that anyone is seeing? Does this happen when running the game on fast-forward to get to a lot of time, or when you just spam movement orders a ton? Being able to sit for 2 hours to test, and then try a fix and retest, is pretty out of the question for us devs, so having an alternative way to repro if it's still happening would be welcome. |

Fixed long ago, to my knowledge. |
