I think what's happenign is that all the units are going to one spot, then the decollision code is splitting them up.

Ships that are firing on another ship aren't allowed to decollide, is part of the problem. Mainly because once they are in range, if they are trying to kite or who knows whatever else, if decollision pushes them out of range that would be hugely non-ideal.

What I have been considering is having a "target lock" status on ships so that once they get in range they can keep shooting at the target until the target is WAY out of range. Maybe this would only be for human ships, even, to keep that from being annoying in the hands of the AI. So that way, once you've target-locked something it could run decollision like normal.
