Summary0020015: Lag, but save/load almost winning it.
DescriptionOkay, epic lag with vamprire ships was nerfed, but we have others.

1. After 2+hours meet with big AI army giving me feel, that lag in here and game slowning.
2. After attack AI Overlord lag is becoming large and game need save/load for return part of the speed.
Even when he died, game is still slowed down.
But like i said, savel/load is good restoring game speed.

Thanks for the report!

Did you actually shut down the program between saving and loading, or just go back to the main menu? Just so we know for reproduction. Any help anyone has in reproing this will be quite welcome, I'm sure.

Keith, to me this means that either there is something being held onto in the world data tree that gets dismantled on world close but otherwise accumulates, or the background threads are having issues of some sort. Relating to that, Badger notes:

Badger notes, as of 0.762:

"I am very suspicious that there's a bug in threading somewhere. I observe 0020034. In this bug, a notification is up saying "The Dark Spire wanted to launch a vengeance strike at time X. However, the current time is X + several minutes, so the notification looks really weird."

In PerSimStep for the Dark Spire there's code that says "If the current time >= X, launch the vengeance strike". And indeed, when I load the save game, the vengeance strike happens at the next sim step. This suggests that it has been several minutes since the last time PerSimStep was run for the Dark Spire for the tester. And the fact that PerSimStep happened immediately for me suggests there wasn't something in the Dark Spire code that was causing it not to run."

I am aware of at least two things that are under-performing right now and might be connected to a buildup of junk happening during the game. I'm going to be looking at those two items to clear them out first, and we'll see if that solves this issue at all.

This may or may not be a thing anymore, but probably stacks solves it, and if not we'll need a new post-0.850 save to test and debug against. A LOT has changed. Thanks!
