Summary | 0018964: Issue with scrapping squads while under shield (and a little in general) | ||||
Description | When scrapping a squad while under a shield, it will only bring the squad to one 'inner' ship. Meaning that the squad will begin to automatically regrow if possible. Pressing the scrap button again while under a shield will do nothing, the squad will not go below one 'inner' ship. However, each press of the scrap button will reduce the hp of the shield, the amount depending on the type of ship being scrapped. While paused, this will continue even after the shield area has been reduced to not cover the squad any more. I found it easy to reproduce by starting a new game, taking the first planet, and then scrapping any squad under the shield. This bug will even work for controllers, at least until the shield is destroyed completely, and then the controller will switch to unclaimed. From what I can tell, this bug has to do with the scrap button only reducing the health of the squad directly. So for example, scrapping a bomber will reduce the squad to one 'inner' ship and then damage the shield for 200 (the health of one bomber). I think it also has to do with shields possibly not updating what they protect while paused. That would explain the effect still happening even after the shield area no longer covers it. Finally, I believe the main reason for this would be that scrapping a unit reduces it to one 'inner' ship, and reduces that ship's health to zero, but it does not remove the unit from the screen, nor prevent selection. Even while not under a shield, scrapping a unit while paused leaves the unit on the screen until you unpause. Sorry for the essay, but I think I got all the info across. | ||||

For 0.103: * Fixed a bug where ships scrapped while under shields would damage the shield rather than die (though the squad would be reduced to one due to another part of the logic). Thanks :) |
