Summary | 0001207: Move colony ship into range if command station is placed out of range | ||||
Description | As a brand new feature the command station can now only be built near the colony ship. If you want to build the command station elsewhere, you have to order the colony ship there first, wait for it to arrive and then issue the build order. In order to facilitate that, I suggest that in cases where the location of the new command station is out of range of the colony ship, the colony ship moves there and commences the construction instead of forbidding the new location. I agree. This solution works because the colony ship would still have to fly into location to set up a new Comm Station, which puts it at risk from attack en route. |

There's a really low chance of this coming too soon, as there's a ton of complexity in this. I won't go through the whole spiel now, as time is very short for me this week. It's a possibility for the future, but we have to look to what we can do in the time we actually have. |

How about increasing the valid build radius for the short term. imo it is very tiny right now. I have to zoom all the way in and then the valid build radius is only about 3 or 4 ship diameters. |

Would perhaps allowing the user to press the ctrl + left mouse button to move whilst in build mode be easier? |

Couldn't you place the Comm station as in the good old days, then the colony ship would move to that point and build it? I raised this as a separate suggestion (0002027) before spotting this -sorry! |

x4000, would it be possible to restore the previous behavior (build anywhere) if there are no enemies on the planet, and use the current behavior of having to build within a radius of the colony ship if enemies are present? (just thinking of reducing complexity, since you don't need to code any new behaviors, just in if/then/else) |
