DescriptionI use some extra units with my fleets. Scout starships, Cloaker starships (both to counter sentinel frigates), mobile repair dock factory... things, and I tried engineers.

Unfortunately, I run into a serious problem. Those extra units tend to die. They are all cloaked, and would probably be fine if they stayed in the middle of the fleet, but they instead, when I issue an attack target order (required to effectively kill some targets) they go give it a hug and explode. Or at least get revealed by Sentinel frigates and explode.

Anyhow, I would prefer, if you issue an attack (right click target) order (might be alternate command existing that works fine) that units unable to attack at all will stay back. I seem to recall units With attacks, but unable to damage the target would just sit idle. But this does not effect these support ships.

I could use a different control group, but it is a pain to control both and keep them in position. That and I am out of control groups already.

Alternatively, option to Give orders only to units matching *Filter*, namely being combat vs noncombat, cloaking vs non-cloaking, and possibly Polycrystal vs non-polycrystal.

as a note remember you can give group move orders by holding g. this way they would travel together and not zoom off individually

I have global move orders enabled, at all times.
I use the g key to disable. It does not help however in this case.

Use formation move if your scout starships and other cloaked rush ahead. It forces units to keep their position.

Have become kind of needed to keep those MSD with the fleet instead of rushing into an enemy fleet...

That would help a lot. Still problematic with unit ranges, tho. Formation system really is half-baked.
