These would only be efficient in Exo-wave games and against a few specific AI types (Starship Captain, most obviously); so I'd recommend against making MK I Impulse Reaction Emitter turrets a free unlock. |

How's that a reason to charge K for MkI? |

If Mk I is unlocked for free, building them is a no-brainer: everyone will do it eventually to just have a little extra defensive firepower, unless they're seriously strapped for cash or the IRE turrets are really energy-heavy. If Mk I costs K (it's not like there isn't a precedent for turrets which cost K for the first unlock), it's a meaningful decision: am I expecting to face enough Starships, Golems and the like to make this worthwhile? |

The player already has a lot of turrets at start. Plus, an expansion player with the turrets shouldn't start with more firepower than a player who does not have the expansion (were these to be added in the next expansion and not as base game additions) |
