Product Version | 4.021 | ||||
Summary | 0000977: Selection box grabs military and non-military ships together
Description | Under SlimDX versions, the selection box only grabbed non-military ships when there were no military ships in the selection box. Under 4.021, selection boxes grab everything indiscriminately, making it very difficult to manage large groups of ships without inadvertently moving force fields, rally points, mobile builders and such as well.

I've had another report of this, which is curious, but I cannot duplicate it. In my tests, it works properly. However, if you hold down the Ctrl key, that is intended to make it skip the military-only logic and just select everything. Incidentally, that's also identical to the SlimDX version. Can you check and confirm you're actually having an issue. If so, we'll need to figure out some way to duplicate it, because I don't see it. But the other guy was holding Ctrl, I'm pretty sure. |
I think I see what's causing this for me. If i create a selection box it grabs military only as it should, if I then create a selection box over the same area again it grabs everything. See if that's reproducible for you. I'm definitely not holding ctrl when this happens. |
Same thing here, I've just started clearing the box before dragging the new one. I figured it was on purpose. |
Yep, the same here. |
That's Case 1 (which personally I'd assumed was intentional) but there's also Case 2: If you have something non-military selected (by any method) and you use a planet-wide drag selection box to select all the military units, the game performs an additive selection: i.e. original selection plus all military. |
@zebramatt Actually, that's what's getting me. I'll have a transport selected (to unload) and then try to grab the ships after they're out. In the process I end up ordering force fields, mobile builders, and other transports when I don't intend to. |

Fixed a couple of releases back, thanks. :) |
