Summary | 0000967: user interface no longer displays sidebar on planets you have explored
Description | In the old version, there is a sidebar on the right hand side that lists the ships and structures of a planet after you scout it. The benefit of this is you can click on the planet-even after your scout dies-and mouse over each unit to see what the abilities are. Now, you have to mouse over the fog of war unit to get the abilities. You can still get the tooltip for each unit as long as you mouse over each one on the playfield. It's just easier to recognize and do when there is a sidebar. Sidebar currently displays a white circle. See the attached screenshot.

This is the way it has always been since 1.0, actually -- no changes whatsoever, except that we now allow you to see some stuff through the fog of war (fixed-position stuff), which we previously did not. Without a scout there, all you can see on the sidebar is your stuff, which is why the tutorials have always been big on "bring a scout or a scout starship with you," etc. |
Any reason why the fixed position stuff doesn't go on the sidebar? On the galaxy view, you can see all of the structures… On the planet view, you can see all the structures… You just cannot easily figure out what they all are without mousing over them. I don't see it as giving the user any advantage, it just makes the usability easier. I'm not asking to see ships. |
It would be quite nice to have that fixed structures on the sidebar. It wouldn't give any more information than already present and would be very handy. |
it used to be very nice in the old version. Perhaps it was not clearing quickly enough, but you were able to click on the sidebar and locate the locations of units and what they do very easily with it without violating fog of war or anything that you wouldn't already know by looking around manually. |
