Summary | 0009443: Champion ships, shadow energy stays on death.
Description | When a champion ship dies, the shadow energy is not reset to zero. This means you can kill them to save a command station. Scrap them. Have them respawn at the command station with 200+ shadow energy and put up a force field. This is a minor issue of course, but with the force field already very powerful, I think this is just a little bit to much. It feels a bit exploitable to me, being able to instantly save important installations from attacks.

It takes about 200 seconds to fill the Shadow Charge meter. 40 seconds for 1 use of the shield. When you're using the Champion for a nebula, for example, and it dies, it seems unfair to tack that additional penalty onto the already present one of re-equiping and re-deploying the Champion. Using a shield to save your command center buys you 20 seconds, max. If the battle is that closely balanced, I think it's perfectly fair to let the Chapion tip the player over the top. |

So one filled champion ship can save your command center for 100 secs. (you get five uses of the shield, this is a theoretical max of course, in practice you need the shields to overlap, and the damage done to them also reduces their time to live). And you get more chances to save the center if there are multiple champion players. Currently there is no real penalty for getting your champion ship killed. It actually helps in some cases. (You don't have to fly back to get your shield slots fixed). Another problem with my suggestion is that setting the counter back to zero makes the game more boring for pure champion players. (Edit: Thinking about it, it should probably only be set to zero for normal+champion players, not champion only players. But that is simply unclear game design... meh). |
