Summary | 0009421: Bring back low power mode
Description | Energy blacking out is a major problem in the start of the game if the player wants to build the new and more energy costly starships. Also with no way to turn off the matter converter of low power mode the player is forced to build them on demand when needed and not as backups. Plus it's very silly that once I am maxed on normal collectors and don't want to build use the other kind that I have to scrap a ship to get energy back to build a station from being maxed out. If lower power mode was to not come back at least give matter converters a stand by/low power mode so they do not have to built on demand.

I highly doubt that letting power converters go into low power mode will be added, as that is what caused the issues with the old system in the first place. (Turning what should of been a decision between a "safety net" of energy and time and resource costs into a glorified "change giving" micro problem) However, I can see low power mode coming back for ships. |

Not being able to power down ships makes the energy system meaningful. If you want to have more ships, you need to run the energy to support it. It is like supply from Starcraft in a way. Imagine if in Starcraft you could "power down" things and make them not cost supply. If you want more ships at one time, build more Matter Converters. You can dump them all in your safest system. Energy micro now consists of adding or removing Matter Converters which is a quick and simple action. Previously it was pause and toggle power on a thousand units. Also check out the energy buffer option in settings, which you can use to make sure your Docks and such don't over-build. |
