Summary | 0009410: Lightning Guardian should try to maximize damage with its initial shot
Description | The Lightning Guardian doesn't seems to be very effective in most situations. It's short-ranged, slow and tends to waste its first shot as soon as a single ship is in range. Unless my units are on the opposite side of a wormhole from it, I don't feel threatened by it at all. My suggestions: 1. Give it the 7000 range electric shuttles have. It looks like the guardian used to have that before 0000969 and the cap on its maximum number of hits was added. 2. Make it hold fire to try to get more units in range. The long reload time means it usually only gets one shot, so it should try to make it count. Maybe it could count up how many AOE-vulnerable units are in range and fire if that number is at least 40 OR at least one and the guardian's health is <=25%.

Is there any reason a Lightning Guardian can't get a lower reload time? There are never that many Lightning Guardians (I believe there is a cap on Guardians per system) so maybe if they had a 4 second reload and dealt 22.5% of their current damage they'd be more threatening. Note this would give them a slight overall DPS boost. |
