Description | Quite far along into my current game and a cpa hasn't arrived following the countdown. The threat level remains, but after a long wait I still haven't seen any aggression from the AI. Waves have also stopped. I noticed a short time after the cpa should have arrived a human colony rebellion happened. Continued playing, liberated some extra planets, then finally the colony. After doing so I wasn't able to build any ships. I've included 3 saves from this game. One from before the CPA, one after when I noticed the issue, and a final save with the strangeness concerning the rebelling human colony. The human colony is located on Aurevges (you can see that in the final save). EDIT: I haven't been able to reproduce this from the save before the cpa occurs, so i'm not sure if this fixable :/ | ||||

Thanks for letting us know. CPAs just don't like to cooperate, nor do they wish to cooperate or not cooperate in a consistent (i.e. reproducible fashion). The class of error is nothing new, at least, though I think this is from newer bugs than the older cases. On the human colony not letting you build stuff; did you actually try to build the stuff? I think there are some bugs where the buttons will be redded out but will still work. Still a bug, but I wanted to know which. |

Aye, tried to build them but wasn't able to (the buttons are indeed redded out, though). This was after the cpa failed to show and I stopped getting waves, so possibly related to that, perhaps. The save with the colony with un-buildable stuff is the last one I uploaded (weird.sav), planet Aurevges. Sorry about the save names btw, they're just copied from my folder - hence the one before the cpa being called 'uh oh' heh :) edit: its been ages since i used that minor faction, but for some reason when I tried to build the ships it went into the structure build mode (on clicking the ship icon was ancored to the cursor with the range indicated, like when placing a turret.) another edit: Ah, I remember how they work now, nevermind :) This game contains far too much for me to ever remember ;) |

Yeah, you build them like engineers or transports. Given that they're mobile military, it probably would be more consistent for them to be built from a queue instead. I'm not sure if there's a technical reason why they're not. |

I have taken the liberty of separating out the Rebel Human Colony bug into a new issue, for the sake of clarity: 0000955. Apart from a small reference in the title, I have left this issue unchanged. |

Ok, the rebel-colony-not-building thing is fixed for 4.023 (thanks for finding that, by the way), but on the cpa I'll have to just ask that someone send me a save with a reproducible case, should they ever find one :) |

Thanks! * The way that rebelling human colonies work has now been completely revamped in terms of what happens once you capture them: ** They now provide foldouts in multiplayer. ** They cannot be used to create ships while the minor faction still controls them (previously, when the rebel colony was in supply, they could). ** The ships they create are now created through a queue as you would expect, rather than through direct placement. ** The colonies are captured on planet ownership change, rather than continuing to belong to a minor faction. ** This fixes a number of prior bugs and logical issues with the rebelling human colonies: *** Previously, the colonies gave no economic benefit to players, despite claiming to, because they were controlled by a minor faction. **** Interestingly, no-one ever reported this one. *** Recently, it was impossible to build any ships using the colonies. |
