Description | I was just fighting off a wave on my home planet when the game crashed to the desktop. Don't think I was doing anything special. I'd just given some ships an order to moved when the crash happened, the sound being left looping until I'd OKed the crash dialog that asked me to report it. This was on Windows 7 64-bit, 8GB RAM, Q6600 @ 3GHz (overclocked). | ||||

Sounds like it may be one of the memory-related crashes we've been trying to track down. Can you try setting the sprite pool max (settings window, advanced tab) to 1000 and restarting the app? We added that slider to help figure out what's going on here, and that should pare down the maximum memory footprint, albeit causing slowdown if it runs out of pool space and has to use a given sprite object more than once in a given frame. |

OK, tried that. No crashes so far, though only played another 1/2 hour or so. Will keep you informed if anything else bad happens. Thanks. |

Ok, thanks. If you run into a lot of performance problems let us know; it may be that adding a 2000 setting or something like that as a middleground will work out better. My hope is that Chris can come up with a better system overall than the one I hacked together, though :) |
