Summary | 0009048: Spire City Shard Reactor
Description | comes up with an error everytime I try to zoom in close on the Spire City, after checking to make sure the image was there, and it was, I swapped the color mask image and the reactor image itself with the same ones for the Habitation Center the error went away but now when zoomed in it looks like the Habitation Center. First noticed it abut 2-3 updates ago, which seemed to edit the image some how.

Do you have the error message? When I zoom in on a reactor in my steam copy on 5.049 it shows up as it should. |

Edit- Ok, figured out that it stores the error messages in the Debug Log. First up is the error that I get if I only replace the main image for the Reactor 1.png 7/27/2012 12:08:55 AM Cannot Get Sprite for texture 'Expansions/3/Images/Ships/FallenSpire_SpireShardReactor/ColorMask' because No standard image size 256x254! at System.Environment.get_StackTrace() at ArcenDebugging.ArcenDebugLog(System.String Message, DebugLogDestination Destination, Boolean IncludeStackTrace, Verbosity Verbosity) at ArcenDebugging.ArcenDebugLog(System.String Message, DebugLogDestination Destination, Verbosity Verbosity) at ArcenDebugging.ArcenDebugLog(System.String Message, Verbosity Verbosity) at Game.GetSpriteForImage(IGameImage Img) at UnityRenderer.DrawImage(IGameImage Img, Int32 X, Int32 Y, Color DiffuseColor, ShaderType ShaderType, Single RotationDegrees, Boolean FlipX, Boolean FlipY, Single UVX, Single UVY, Single DrawWidth, Single DrawHeight, Boolean SkipEffectivePositioning, UVUseType UVUseType, DrawFrom DrawFrom, DrawLayer Layer) at UnityRenderer.DrawImage(IGameImage Img, Int32 X, Int32 Y, Color DiffuseColor, ShaderType ShaderType, Single RotationDegrees, DrawFrom DrawFrom, DrawLayer Layer) at ForegroundObject.Render(.UnityRenderer R, Int32 RenderPhase, DrawLayer Layer) at Game.DrawGame() at Game.UpdateDisplay(Boolean IsFullVisualUpdate) at MainCameraLogic.MainUpdateLogic() at MainCameraLogic.Update() 7/27/2012 12:08:55 AM Cannot Get Sprite for texture 'Expansions/3/Images/Ships/FallenSpire_SpireShardReactor/1' because No standard image size 256x254! at System.Environment.get_StackTrace() at ArcenDebugging.ArcenDebugLog(System.String Message, DebugLogDestination Destination, Boolean IncludeStackTrace, Verbosity Verbosity) at ArcenDebugging.ArcenDebugLog(System.String Message, DebugLogDestination Destination, Verbosity Verbosity) at ArcenDebugging.ArcenDebugLog(System.String Message, Verbosity Verbosity) at Game.GetSpriteForImage(IGameImage Img) at UnityRenderer.DrawImage(IGameImage Img, Int32 X, Int32 Y, Color DiffuseColor, ShaderType ShaderType, Single RotationDegrees, Boolean FlipX, Boolean FlipY, Single UVX, Single UVY, Single DrawWidth, Single DrawHeight, Boolean SkipEffectivePositioning, UVUseType UVUseType, DrawFrom DrawFrom, DrawLayer Layer) at UnityRenderer.DrawImage(IGameImage Img, Int32 X, Int32 Y, Color DiffuseColor, ShaderType ShaderType, Single RotationDegrees, DrawFrom DrawFrom, DrawLayer Layer) at ForegroundObject.Render(.UnityRenderer R, Int32 RenderPhase, DrawLayer Layer) at Game.DrawGame() at Game.UpdateDisplay(Boolean IsFullVisualUpdate) at MainCameraLogic.MainUpdateLogic() at MainCameraLogic.Update() Ok, well I got both errors right away when I put the original files back in place. So here they are, time stamps and all. Edit 2- Well now this is getting very odd. I went looking deeper into the files and folders and found that I had a second RuntimeData folder inside the RuntimeData folder itself, which contained copies of the Language and Expansions folder, however the Expansions folder only contained 3, and that itself only contained Images, then only Ships, then only FallenSpire_SpireShardReactor, which had the images. On the off chance it might work, I moved them into the proper location within the other folder. It poinited out that these files were both larger and newer than the ones I did have, and when tested they work just fine without any errors. Now in the Language folder is only en, (like the proper one) and then only the 3ships.xml and main.xml files. I checked and they seem to have no difference from the ones in the proper location, at least not in size or timestamp. I'm warry of replacing the ones from the proper folder with these, if only because I've never encountered an error other than with the Reactor. Any advice? |

Yea, the second RuntimeData folder was due to a mistake I made in packaging the update that originally was supposed to fix this problem (that the shard graphics were 256x254 instead of 256x256) a few versions ago. I corrected that in the next version (though you'll still have that second RuntimeData folder because our installer can't delete stuff), and removed the update that could do that so you just hit a pretty narrow window where that was happening. What I don't understand is why the next update where I fixed the location of that stuff in the update didn't fix your "real" copies of the shard reactor graphics. I wouldn't suggest moving the language files from that second RuntimeData folder over as the next update should have taken care of that too. Have you updated to 5.050? If not, what I would suggest is: 1) rename your copies of those two shard reactor images to backup_(current name) 2) update to 5.050 3) see if it gave you new copies of those reactor images, and if they're 256x256 or 256x254 (it _really_ should be the former) 4) assuming it gave you the 256x256 files, go ahead and delete those two backup_(whatever) image files and that "second RuntimeData" directory because the game won't use them 5) Let me know how it went :) |

Actually I swaped in the replacements from the second RuntimeData folder, which were 256x256 while the bad files were 256x254, before I updated to 5.050. That corrected the issue, and after updating I checked it again just ot make sure it was still ok, and it was. Since I get online rather late at night I am assuming I managed to get the bad update just as it went out, thus hittin that narrow window you mentioned. As for why the next update didn't fix it, I first got the error in 5.048, possibly 5.047. Was 5.049 supposed to fix that issue? I first thought it was a corrupted file, since my laptop had suffered some issues recently, and did a fresh instal to make sure everything was good. I found that it was ok, UNTIL I patched back up, going from 5.000 to 5.049. So I am not sure that 5.049 was supposed to fix things. But in the end, I am running 5.050 right now, and everything is perfect. No major issues so far. Havent had a chance to try out the new Botnet Minor Faction yet (Rather annoyed that I can only have one now, but happy that I can always have one spawn every map, and its harder to kill. I tend to use starships as my main strike team and leave fleet ships and Golems as my defence. Since most of my knowledge goes into Starships, it leaves my fleetships rather weak. The botnet and the zombies help make up for that) |
