Product Version | 5.041 | ||||
Summary | 0009028: Shadow Master sending waves without ships
Description | In the attached save, the Shadow Master's wave is due in about 12 seconds from the Nuraeci wormhole. While the 3 lead fighters and the Leech starship all turn up as expected, the other 98 ships never appear. This is the second wave sent by the Shadow Master in this game, and the first was also missing ships. The Neinzul Youngster's waves are all fine. The version is noted as 5.041 as this is when the save was created, but I still see the same issue in 5.046. I've also created a new game with the exact same lobby setup, which I was able to play through to conclusion without seeing this problem. I've made two attempts to speed through to the 3rd wave (which comes at 0000001:0000001 hour 9 minutes); the first gave me another wave without ships, the other successfully sent through etherjets. All of the missing waves have been for 99 ships, so maybe it's just raptors having the problem?

Um, a dumb question, but do you have cloaked ships turned on in this game? It's good to always check the simple stuff first in my experience. ;) |
Yes, cloaked ships are turned on. |
Upon testing the provided save, our determination is that your mines accidentally the raptors. The AI may consider this a bug, but you should not ;) (when I scrap the mines around the wormhole before the wave launches, the raptors pop out fine) |
Thanks for looking into this. Now you've pointed out what's happening, I've retested and see the raptors every time! When I first saw this, I thought it may be the mines, but dismissed the idea on seeing that only one mine had been pushed into the yellow, with the others untouched - I figured that the fighters / leech had gone through it. How many ships can a mine hit with each explosion? I'd assumed that it would just be one, so that at most 16 explosions * 6 mines would kill 96 raptors leaving at least 2; but it seems they're a bit more devastating than I'd imagined! |
From what I understand, the damage a mine does to itself is proportional to the damage inflicted to the ship. The damage listed is just the max damage per individual hit it can do; a hit could do less if it takes less than the max damage to finish off the ship. And yes, this does make mines crazy good against ships with low individual HP. |
