Summary | 0008620: Make Sunrise and Nightfall more convenient to use
Description | The biggest use of these two spells is to cycle the missions available without actually having to wait in real time. Their cooldowns, however, are pretty long and this process still takes a while. If it's supposed to save you time, why waste time like that? The other thing is that these spells affect the whole world. You can go back to a previous continent and use them there and they affect other continents just as much. So why not let you keep this spell when you journey to a new continent? The only thing barring a person from using it once they've unlocked it on one continent is if there's no non-stormy ports available on another. But in that case, they probably need the spells most of all, because of the low amount of missions available on a continent as new as that.

Reducing cooldown: Yes, definitely agree. As to making them available on all continents once they're unlocked on one continent, I'd say no. I'd also argue that it should be continent specific (i.e. only cycles time in the continent you're on); it's pretty much the only spell I can think of that still remains of use outside the continent you're on, where as spells ought to be per-continent. A big part of the early game is managing limited options (and working to expand those options); freedom to constantly cycle missions right from the start would put a big dent in that. As an alternate solution to let players choose how sunrise / nightfall can affect continents, availability could be linked to strategic difficulty (say, by making it only affect continents of a certain continent tier or above, with the minimum tier being higher as you go up in strategic difficulty). |
