It's also frustrating fighting these things since their projectiles are homing |
The projectiles are easier to dodge the closer you go to the cyclone, since their turning radius is rather large. |
There are strategies: dropping multiple rhinos on them, using shields, teleporting in and out... but yeah, their damage seems a bit high. Or maybe their projectiles are too fast? |
I concede that I lose more health fighting these buggers than any other boss. But this is the only boss that make me sit back and think tactics, rather than just run-jump-shoot my way through. I think the game should have a few more such challenges, rather than less. |
If you want more challenges in general, increase your difficulty level :) Brimstone Cyclones are just unbalanced. They're the hardest bosses to hit, the hardest to dodge, and they do the most damage per hit. |
I agree the tactical challenge is fun with these guys, but they can also wipe 1/2 your health before you even know it's in the room. I agree with jruderman; they're just a beatdown. |
There are tactics for cyclones, though. When I first encountered one, I figured it would be just too difficult until I got a summon rhino spell. As expected, once I got summon rhino, the fight became as easy as repeatedly dropping rhinos on it from a distance (although that was a little dull...) You could also have a shield up whenever approaching an unknown boss, so that it's the shield and not your character taking damage that tips you off to what you're dealing with. That said, it feels like cyclones are about 1 difficulty level harder than they should be. Playing at normal difficulty, a cyclone felt like it was 1 or 2 difficulty levels harder than that. Maybe cyclones could just be scaled down 1 or 2 levels? (In other words, give the normal difficulty the cyclone that's currently used at the next-easiest difficulty, etc.) |
I was wrong about "most damage per hit". I got confused (and killed) by 0008851. |
