Summary | 0008439: Medieval 50% Melee protection GOES AWAY with snowsuit
Description | Found this out kinda accidentally. I was having trouble with some blade traps, so I made a medieval character for the melee protection. Jumped my HP up high (about 900), and went into the area. Of course, being in the cold, I put on my snowsuit to reduce the freezing dmg. Well I got to the blades, and was still taking 120 dmg. Looked at my player stats, and the snowsuit removed the melee protection for the cold tolerant. Take off the suit, and there was my protection, and I started taking only 60 dmg. Now, I checked with some other characters. Snowsuit normally seems to add the Cold Tolerant as well as 25 knockback resist. But it removed the one important thing about medieval characters, which doesn't even make sense. Unarmored = better protection than armored? Must be a buggg....

Yep! Working as intended. You had to take off the armor to put on the snowsuit. Just like if you are wearing a snowsuit (ice age character) you lose your cold tolerance when you switch from that to a heatsuit. Things that don't come directly from the clothing (or which aren't logically affected by the weight of clothing) are retained when you put on suits. Snowsuits aren't armor, they're protection from cold -- and you took off your armor to put on the snowsuit. |

sooooo. medieval = lesser ice age. little more melee protection, but same knockback, no bonus stats, and putting on a suit makes them lose out on their only important thing about the character. Can I file an unbalanced suggestion then. |
|
That's a lot more melee protection. And it only goes off when you put on a snowsuit or heat suit, which is not remotely all the time. Also, the characters aren't supposed to be balanced in a mathematical sense -- they have attributes that can fit certain situations or playstyles. That's hard to make into a simple concrete balance statement, since it varies by circumstances. The medieval folks are vastly more stable and better at close range anywhere that isn't too hot or cold. |
|
Can I make a suggestion of a small base melee protection + added "normal" armored that adds up to the 50? small base being like 10% or so? |
|
That's a good idea. |

* X% Melee Protection has been split into two stats: ** X% Melee Ward (Armor) and X% Melee Ward (Body). ** The armor-based melee ward works like the melee protection previously did; if you put on different armor (snowsuit, heatsuit) or change form, you lose that melee reduction. ** The body-based melee ward, however, gets retained even if you change forms or put on a heatsuit/snowsuit. * In addition to their prior 50% melee (armor) ward, medieval characters now have an added 10% melee (body) ward. Thanks! |
