So far, it seems that the focus has mostly been on more normal enemy variety. That has made amazing progress, but now I think some more boss variety would be good. Including, as you said, more crazy mechanics or variations or combinations of mechanics that are outside the norm of normal fights.

Agreed; some strange mechanics or other "specialness" would be nice for new bosses.

Throwing out some suggestions of specific weirdness I'd like to see:-

> A boss split into multiple parts. Each part gives all of the remaining parts new abilities when they die (so one part gives the rest regeneration, another gives the rest increased damage, another gives the rest reduced cooldown times on their attacks, etc.)

> A boss that creates "towers" or other structures that buff it and all enemies near it until the structure is destroyed

> A boss that has some form of timed shield meaning the player must time their attacks as to not waste mana when the shields are up

> A boss split into multiple parts. The parts must be destroyed in order; all parts except the "next-in-line" are invulnerable.

> A boss that teleports when hit (preferably limiting it to somewhere near the player so you don't end up having to keep moving up and down the entire room). (The idea is to make it so you have to keep changing aim, and can't just spam attacks in the bosses' direction.)

> A boss that gains a copy of every spell the player uses on it (and so can use any powerful attacks the player brings).

Thought of another "weirdness"...

> A boss that is immune to long range attacks (and so can only be hurt by "melee" attacks - flamethrower/geyser, "x" whip spells, "x" touch spells, ice burst, etc.
