Summary | 0008103: Combining A boss and freefall.
Description | After massively enjoying the freefall mision I was wondering if a boss version of the mission could be considered, working in the same way, the bost is some sort of giant eye at the bottom of the screen, it could fire lasers upwards or other assortment of attatcks, the combination of dodging mines / the boss attacks could make this mission really fun. I was thinking that these bosses could occur in any boss room or in a lieutenant tower as an area event. Or itself as a seperate mission. Alternatively from MaxAstro notes the room could give the apperance of falling when in fact you are simply floating in place, with infinite jumps and using down to descend, thus enabling functionality in multiplayer. And would be much easier to design into boss rooms or area rooms.

How would it work during multiplayer? |
|
If the boss is fast moving enough and doesn't have a melee attack (and is non-collidable), it could have an AI where it flies randomly from player to player. Or it could just focus its attacks on the lowest player. Personally I really like this idea as a third variation of freefall mission - it would have to be much less cluttered so you could focus on fighting the boss, but it sounds like a lot of fun. EDIT: Oh! Or it could be done another way. Instead of a falling room, it could be sort of a "zero-g" room - the room is only roughly a screen or two tall, and the boss is the floor of the room. The boss is generating a gravity field that works something like a cross between an umbra vortex mission and a freefall mission. You don't fall naturally, just hover at your current height. But you can jump as much as you want to gain height, and press down to lose height. Once you defeat the boss, the gravity effects ends and you fall through the floor to the stash below. Done this way, there's need to worry about players getting separated if they enter the room at different times. |
