Summary | 0000808: Anti-Teleport Turret
Description | After having the eleventy-twelfth teleport raider just skip by my primary defences and into my core planets, I'm somewhat annoyed. Mind you, they don't actually do any harm, it's more the "Oh, not again... Fine. <send 5 raptors>" that annoys me. So, I propose the following defensive turret: Spatial normalizer (or something equally snappy) Cost: 3000 metal, 20000 crystal, 1500 energy (so a little above a tractor turret, aside from energy usage, which is 3x) Prevents all teleports (1500 range) Requires supply Radiates a field of teleport-preventing ion radiation (which does nothing against normal engines). Limited to two per planet (if possible) since the tri-axial radiation interference otherwise would disrupt all spatial coherence within the system (or something equally techno-babbly). Balance-wise, it does put somewhat of a stop to teleport-raiders; however, since those are also immune to tractor beams, all this turret would do is to stop them teleporting until they get outside its field-radius, so it's really only effective against either a small amount of raiders (depending on how many other turrets are there) or if you've got other ships present at the turret.

By the way, it's knowledge-pricey, but a Mk3 Logistics Command Station completely prevents hostile teleportation on its planet. |
|
Yeah, I know; that's why this would stop all teleporting, and not just enemy teleporting. Plus, it's hard replacing a home station with a logistics station :) |
|
I'd suggest using sniper turrets on your home planet -- and/or surrounding your home planet with logistics command stations, as that would then give you a defensive perimeter. |
