Summary0008002: Battleground Missions unreasonable at higher level play
DescriptionI play at Master Hero difficulty, and I'm finding these missions to be relatively impossible to beat.
In general, enemies do a ton of damage, while allied robots and the base have relatively low health. (Do they scale at all with the difficulty?)
Of particular note are the miasma turrets, which win battles on their own with their competent damage, competent firing rate, homing property, and collision property to block shots.

Are you using command flares to queue up big batches of your guys? Also, you might try using crates to block the misama missiles from the enemy towers.

I've been trying to batch guys yes, it works occasionally but if a certain strong enemy can bypass their resistances they usually die easily.
Good point with the crates I'll give it a go.

Well I just tried it a couple times:

The first time I got quickly destroyed. Tried stacking crates to make a wall but they were being destroyed faster than I could place them. Then a set of three mamga rhinos came in and cleaned house. Only got to destroy the first turret.

The second time went a lot better, there were no miasma turrets this time. Had a couple close calls with the rhinos again but I eventually had a position half-way across the battleground. I only had 150/540 health, so after many rounds of slowly pushing and then running back to heal, eventually I was caught by one too many blasts and died.

The third time was much like the first, I ran up and blew up the first turret, but I could not get to the second without taking a ton of damage alone. I tried to stack robots, but there were always enemies to come destroy them before the pack could grow.

(Sometimes the magma rhinos would stop before they reached the ally robots and just sit there. Is this supposed to happen? This happened a lot on my second run, which probably helped considerably.)

All in all I appreciate the difficulty of the mission, it's what I'd expect selecting Master Hero difficulty. But relative to the rest of the missions I've done so far (Continent 1 Tier 4) this is by far the hardest thing I have tried to do.

I have the same problem with these sorts of missions in places with elevated tier, such as "The Deep". It seems to elevate the enemy's levels, but not the allies. The enemies (expecially rhinos) would just blast through the allies like they weren't even there, making you lose the mission like 20 seconds after starting.

Maybe if the range on the enemy turrets was reduced or something.

Doing any sort of missions in The Deep is really going to be very difficult because the monsters are so much tougher. The tier inflation on those is going to go away in the future, however it is working as intended in terms of your allies always being the continent tier rather than whatever the chunk tier is.

So I finally beat a Battleground thanks to help on the forums.
The fundamental problem I had was that I was using a low damage character.
Switching to a high damage character made all the difference with the increased initiative it gave.
