Summary0007802: Light Snake - More tiers, more useful.
DescriptionPersonally, I think Light snake can get a little usurped by some of the other light producing powers like ball of light, moon lamps and (especially) Flash of light. I can't help but think that it's unique schtick of revealing the minimap can be further added upon.

My suggestion is to give it a few more tiers, and give it different, increasingly useful attributes as well (Maybe even increasing max 'range'.)

For example, at Tier 2, it can follow along walls (Like how I initially thought it would.) rather than stopping and fizzling out when it can progress no further.

At Tier 3, it would not be affected by gravity when fired and snake along walls like Tier 2 when it encounters one.

At Tier 4, it could show the location on the mini-map of enemies within the radius of its light.

This would potentially reenforce it's mini-mapping abilities further and give it a unique and more desired place in the logistic category of spells. Regrettably, I can see programming it to follow the contours of walls being a lofty endeavor, but one I hope is possible sometime in the future.

For its speed, you could always just equip a '+ projectile speed' enchant.

I find light snake to be essential when I'm in a boss room, or...anywhere with an Industrial character. Their monster-seeing only works in revealed parts of the map...and the safest way to reveal the map, is light snake ^^

Do you suggest that it stop at tier/level 4? Remember that currently, all leveling spells can level indefinitely. Or would you suggest that it somehow get better with every level?

Well, this is an older entry, when tiers where a thing.

I think that it can be adapted to the current system by making the effects modifiers, either by random or crafting higher rarity spellgems for Light snake.

I'd be for having modifiers affect it as long as it also remained level-less as it is now.

How about if it got random modifiers? It'd be a custom set, though - you couldn't increase its power of course, but you could increase the light it produces, projectile speed, life after hitting a wall, whether it would ricochet when hitting a wall (and how many ricochets it would get), reduced falling speed (which at 100% would mean unaffected by gravity, I guess?), to name a few.
