Description | Enemies that turn into blocking terrain upon death could provide some interesting tactical decisions when facing a group of mobs; especially indoors. You'd probably want the created background terrain to be destroyable like other background objects in order to prevent the player from trapping themselves somewhere. Flavor-wise, these creatures would probably have to be rock or ice (creature turns into a boulder upon death, creature turns into a chunk of ice upon death). Possibly the creature could be air with a small wind-graphic that pushes the player in a certain direction; or alternately, a small wind-graphic that strongly re-directs player projectiles that enter the created terrain (should not affect melee'ish attacks). Wind should 'push' towards the player upon death of the creature. Not sure this particular wind-graphic like effect would make sense to be destroyable like the above blocking terrain would. | ||||

Magma or metal monsters could work as well. Magma would cool to stone on death, and metal would leave a chunk of metal. |

Of course the easy route past would simply be teleport :) |
