Summary | 0007519: AVWW: Dungeon Map Alignment/Orientation Feature Request
Description | As per my evidently erroneous previous bug report, I am modifying it into a feature request: I noticed that the dungeon map seems to have a strange alignment/orientation issue that causes it to align to the bottom-left of the screen, align to the bottom-center sometimes, and, as I believe the default should be, align to the bottom-right. This appears to be done correctly, but the issue is that the map covers vital UI parts without any seeming render logic. Here are some images of different chunks to demonstrate the different seeming alignments: http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/3215/2012050400001.jpg http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/5599/2012050400002.jpg http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/5062/2012050400003.jpg http://img861.imageshack.us/img861/9480/2012050400004.jpg http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/1327/2012050400005.jpg http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/369/2012050400006.jpg I have attempted to see if changing the map scaling and map size would do anything, but the only change was that it'd often times make the dungeon map smaller in scale, but it kept the strange alignment. I am moving this issue into another report as, from what x4000 said in my previous report, this does not appear to be the correct function of this option. Specifically, I am suggesting that the map continues to automatically align itself to the right hand side, but that a border (this need not be visible, of course) constrains it to the bottom-right hand side, making sure that it does not end up blocking a vital part of the UI. The map would need to scroll to display the character's position, and if there was a manual way to scroll the map inside of the border (perhaps use the hold-shift arrow keys to do this) this would allow for larger dungeon map scales. I'm playing at 1920x1200 on a 17" laptop screen, my friend was playing at 1680x1050 on a 17" laptop screen, and when I tested it on my wife's 23" 1920x1080 display, and 150% is acceptable on it although I like 200% more, but the same issue happened, no matter what we changed the scale of the map to in the options. This bug has made the game fairly unplayable if I want to have the ability to see the dungeon map along with the hotbar. I did not see anyone else post this specific bug. Thank you very much!

Quick note: if you fix the scale and then exit the program and then restart the program the alignment will be right. The alignment being off after the scale is changed is a bug I'm aware of. I recommend massively dropping the scale and then closing the program, and you should be good to go! |
I can confirm that changing the scale, and then restarting the program will affect the scale of the dungeon map. At 225%, it appears to not intersect the rest of the UI at 1920x1200. May I suggest that a note be added to the feature, either in the tooltip, or when it is checked in the form of a message box that notifies the user that they will need to restart the program to have the scale move the map back to right-alignment? I will follow up the bug report detailing this issue. Thank you! |
It's a bug on my list to fix so you don't have to restart -- the scaling feature is new in the last few days and I just haven't had time to polish it yet. Cheers! |

Ah, awesome, I was wondering why I couldn't find anyone else mentioning anything about it covering the UI. As an off topic note: I would like to thank you for your wonderful game, which I have already expounded as likely one of the best adventure/sandbox/exploring/platformer game I ever have ever played. Keep up the brilliant work! |

Thanks for the kind words! We're trying to jam pack even more awesome in there, so watch out for tonight's release. Some pretty cool stuff about to drop. :) |
Guswut, do you still have a request in this ticket then? Or are you all set? |
Yes, tigersfan, as the map still overlays the toolbar UI even a 250%, which is not playable. I'm currently using the keyboard shortcut to move the map whenever I switch into such a chunk. |
