Summary | 0007401: Only backup changed chunks
Description | Vey old worlds have a lot of unused chunks in them. Places the players just don't go to often. Even later, when there are reasons to explore old continents, a world on its 10+ continent will have much more land than would be used in a few play sessions. If, every time a chunk was entered, its ID would be written to a "chunks changed" file, this would have a low impact on current design. Only chunks written to that file would need to be backed up, and the file would be cleared.

Good idea, but just like with "real world" incremental backups, you will need to do a full backup every now and then both so that restoring a backup doesn't always have to go through ALL of the incremental, just some of them, and also to protect against corruption in the first full backup. |
