Summary | 0000740: Linear zooming?
Description | Zooming in one click from the farthest zoom ends up zooming in a bunch more than if you're zooming out one click from farthest in. Can this pleaaassseee be changed? :)

Actually, you're incorrect -- linear zooming would not do what you want, because it's not a question of distance, it's a question of percent size. The zoom starts at 1.0 and then goes down from there, stopping at about 0.008 right now. If I went linearly downward there (say, in increments of 0.04 or something), then that would have an exponential effect towards the end. So what I do is actually divide it into thirds, and then do linear zooming in each third, to keep it a bit sane. If you do the math, you'll see what I mean. The difference between 1.0 and 0.94 and 0.12 and 0.08 are astronomically different in the sizes that they seem to be. |
