Summary | 0006765: Rescue NPC mission full of water
Description | Trying a rescue NPC mission, I reached a point early on that's full of water. It's water all the way down from there. That makes the mission virtually impossible to finish without acid gills, and there's no easy way to abort the mission once I find out that the mission is full of water.

Do you have a save of this? |
Nope, sorry. The mission's gone. |
What region was this in? |
Desert depth 1. |
Okay, that's quite odd then. I'd need a save to do anything about this, but thanks for letting me know. To some extent, honestly, I'm not even sure this is a problem: if you need acid gills, you need acid gills. But there's also a pretty solid chance that there is a seeding bug in this case, which is why I'd like to look at it if it comes up again. |
OK I'll post it if I come across it again. The problem is that you have no idea that you need acid gills until halfway down the cave. And if you happen to fall into the water (which is probable since there's no map in this mission type), then you're probably going a long way down in the water (the cave generated for this mission type is very tall) and then you're almost certainly dead. |
But presumably if you're very far into the game, you have acid gills with you at all times. And if you fall into water, even without acid gills, all you have to do is put a platform or crate under yourself sometime before you hit bottom, and then get right out. It would mean you'd be unable to rescue the NPC if you didn't have acid gills, but it's not exactly a death sentence that I can see. |
I've started a new world not too long ago and haven't had that much time to play since then, so I don't have acid gills. And I didn't think about the crate option. I'm not sure if you can place a crate under you with keyboard-directional aiming. It seems to go in a default location. |
If you can't put a crate under you, you're not going to be able to play in the underwater segments at all, really; riding crates up is the only way to get higher in water, you can't just swim. So that's really a whole other issue for keyboard-only play that we need to think about. |
